So, there'll be some days . . . .

Kind of a rough day yesterday, but everyone's fine.  I couldn't get Lindsey to empty the dishwasher, which is her daily assignment.  She just dug in and wouldn't do it.  She got irritable, I got irritable, and things weren't good.  I finally called a halt to the power struggle and asked her what was going on.  Not surprisingly, she was upset about things.  That led to some more hugs and crying about life, but we got through it okay.

At work this afternoon, I got the call from Tanner:  Lindsey had just gotten home from school and was throwing up.  So I left work a bit early.  Everything was fine.  She just seems to throw up once in a while.  I'm not sure why.  She was eating dinner an hour later and shows no signs of anything having been wrong.

She was doing so well that I decided she was up for doing some homework.  Always looking to take advantage of the situation, she immediately decided to have another "divorce crisis" moment just like the day before, but this one was 100% manufactured.  Oh, the drama and the fake crying.  When she finally figured out that I was on to her, the crying and tears ceased in a heartbeat, and she sat down to do her homework.

I've decided that there are three things that will always exist in this world:  hostas (have you ever tried to kill a hosta?), cockroaches, and Lindsey's desire to manipulate every situation to her advantage.  It's good to know there are some things that you can always count on.

Oh, and to add onto this post, I forgot to mention that this morning was the first day of Lindsey's before-school child care.  We leave the house around 7:00, I drop her off at her school, and then I head to work.  She was very excited and loved it.  That part of the new routine isn't going to be a problem.  We'll do that on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.  Stace will be around in the mornings on Tuesdays and Thursdays to get Lindsey off to school.

If only you can keep her using her power for good and not evil then she'll most likely be the next president of the country!

I agree with that comment! My Dad told me, after tending Milly when she was 2 or 3, that in 40 years Milly was either going to be the President of the United States or in Prison. Frankly I don't know which I'd prefer:)

Milly and Lindsey, I'm convinced will be great adults!

Hang in there.

Ha! Jen, it's funny that Dick says that, because I've always said something very similar about Lindsey: she's either going to save the world or destroy it, and the odds are about 50/50 either way.

That's funny - I've got several memories of Jed and I standing in front of our dishwasher hugging and crying about life (maybe or maybe not after a debate over who is supposed to do dishes). It probably runs in the family.

I'm pretty sure Lucy will use her powers for good or evil someday, too. But it's the consistent inconsistency that may cause the most suffering...one minute life will be full of rainbows and unicorns, and the next a covert ambush of noise and terror. And whose to know what will trigger the change! You have my sympathies.
