Literal translation of the day
The German word for "glove" is Handschuh. If you pronounce this word correctly, it's easy to translate into English. It's pronounced something close to "hand-shoe" (except that the "a" has more of an "ah" sound--there's no German equivalent to our short "a" sound), and that's literally what it means. So next time you head out to go skiing, remember to take your hand shoes.
