The days of the week work about the same in German and English for six of the days. They all end in the suffix Tag, meaning "day," and they have similar names. They have Sonntag and Freitag, for example.
However, German really went off the rails when it came to Wednesday. The German name for Wednesday is Mittwoch, literally meaning "midweek." Next time you're getting together with someone for lunch, tell them that you'd like to meet them next Midweek at noon.
