Here are two unrelated but funny stories from recent days.
First: Lindsey was playing in a group of trees near our apartment. The kids call it the "forest." I thought she was out there playing with some friends the other day. I hadn't heard from her for a while, so I wanted to check on her. I called her name from our terrace:
"Lindsey!"
"What?"
"Where are you?"
"I'm in the forest."
"Are you alone?"
"No." Five second pause, and then--"What happens if I'm alone?"
"Nothing."
"Oh, then, I'm alone."
The little stinker.
Second: You may or may not know that Europe tells time using the 24-hour clock. So, if an event starts at 7 p.m., it's listed as starting at 19:00 or 19.00.
Stace wanted a new alarm clock for herself. After searching far and wide, she found a digital clock that had instructions in English. She was delighted to find something familiar, so she bought it. After she got it home, to her horror, she discovered that it only tells time using the 24-hour clock, so at 10:30 at night, the clock says 22:30. There's no way to switch it to twelve hours.
She's beside herself. I'm having trouble keeping from laughing.
