Here I am, sitting with my laptop in my little corner at Starbucks because they have free wi-fi. Living at the house is a little weird. There's no internet and no TV. It's basically me, a bed, a couple of couches, and a bunch of boxes. I did manage to find one towel, one washcloth, and some dishes.
It's a strange existence. On election night, I had to keep going out to the car radio to see what was going on in the world. I have internet at work here, but after two days of being disconnected at the house this weekend, I had to get back online to take care of some things in Switzerland. The world is different these days. It's all about being connected now, right?
There was a rash of teenagers getting up to talk in church today. They all talked about things going on with their Facebook pages. At this point, I don't see myself ever having a Facebook page. I took a look at Stace's page once, and I just about had a panic attack. So many people! So many things going on! I don't want to be that connected.
I'm a bit of a contradiction: on the one hand, I felt a bit unsettled and out of touch without an internet connection. On the other hand, the thought of having a Facebook page with a zillion "friends" checking in on me all the time is just about enough to give me a seizure. I guess I feel the need to be able to observe the world without having the world observe me.
Well, this is about as disjointed of a post as I've ever written, isn't it? I'm not quite sure what point I'm trying to make. Oh, well. Back to Switzerland on Tuesday.

Facebook rocks! I LOVE IT...and yes, I'm addicted. Sorry to have missed you at church today. Edison has a nasty cold. Weird that you are staying at your house again. We miss Jed and Chelsea.
Ok, Stacie totally has to find me on Facebook. I've looked for you both, but can't find you. I actually kind of agree with you - it's funner to look out without people looking in.
@Smith family - Stacie leaves a lot to be desired on Facebook...her presence is minimal!
Stace does have a Facebook page, but she doesn't do much with it. I don't have a page. On a scale of 1 to 10 from "astonishingly boring life" to "extremely interesting life," I figure you should be at least a "4" in order to have a Facebook page, don't you think? I'm definitely a "1." For fun on Sunday night, I drove up I-35W to check out the newly-finished section of freeway that separates 35W from Highway 62. How sad is that?
Not sad, Ethan. You don't have to be exciting at all - you can just read about other people's exciting lives. I love it because I can keep in touch better with my family in a different state.
Thanks for the warning, Gretchen!
I would really love it if Blogger added a spell check feature...
Anyway, I was trying to say that you have a very interesting life Ethan - you live in Switzerland which is very interesting!
I enjoy facebook for keeping in touch with family and friends that live far, far away. For me, FB is much easier to maintain than a blog.
