Here's yet another article from Friedman about Egypt. The article mirrors some of the feelings our tour guide expressed: he said that Egypt used to be a great country, but under Mubarak, it fell behind countries like Turkey and Malaysia.
I'm still a bit awestruck by the fact that we got to spend a few days right in the middle of all of this. As we were hanging out in Cairo on Monday getting ready to go to the airport, Mubarak's trial was taking place a few blocks from where we were staying.
I was too tired last night to start the report of our trip. I should be up for it tonight.
