We gotta fix it

I don't get political on the blog, but let me say something here without endorsing a specific point of view: We've got to fix our health care system in the United States.

I twisted my ankle the other day. (Not an MS fall--I just slipped on some ice while I was running.) It was no big deal, and I knew it wasn't serious. After seeing me limp around, though, several coworkers insisted that I go to the ER to get it looked at. (It's not fractured.) I took the bus over there this afternoon from work. I checked in, had an initial consultation with a doctor, got x-rays, had a follow-up visit from the doctor, got my ankle wrapped, and walked out the door with some cream and some pain pills. I was in and out in 45 minutes. No one asked if I had health insurance because everyone has health insurance. And I guarantee that the cost of the visit will be far less than it would have been in the United States.
